Kennel Assistant (Part-Time) Hounds Town Charlotte is looking for a dependable, energetic, and dog-loving Kennel Assistant to join our team! If you enjoy working with dogs, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in providing exceptional care, we'd love to meet you. As a Kennel Assistant, you'll play an important role in ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness, and overall well-being of every dog in our daycare and boarding programs. We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, works well as part of a team, and is comfortable handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. Responsibilities Dog Care Supervise dogs during group play and monitor canine behavior to ensure a safe and positive environment. Safely intervene when needed using established handling procedures. Monitor dogs in daycare playgroups and boarding kennels. Feed, water, and administer medications (as directed) to boarding dogs. Perform routine health and wellness observations and promptly report any concerns to management. Facility Cleaning & Maintenance Clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, feeding stations, and common areas throughout each shift. Follow established cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures to maintain a healthy environment. Assist with facility organization and general housekeeping. Team Support Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations. Assist with opening and closing procedures. Help wherever needed to provide the best experience for our dogs and their owners. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience working with dogs, animals, or in a kennel, daycare, veterinary, or pet care setting is preferred but not required. Knowledge of canine behavior and body language is a plus. Ability to stay calm, confident, and attentive in a fast-paced environment. Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well on a team. A genuine love for dogs and a commitment to their safety and well-being. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to safely handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments. Comfortable performing repetitive cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the day. Schedule Part-time position Weekend and holiday availability required.
