Job Description
Entry Level Role with part-time hours. Must be at least 18 years old. Hours will work with school schedule. Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. This part-time role is essential for ensuring the well-being of the animals in our care. This is a physical role sometimes requiring long, demanding days. You will NOT be playing with dogs all day.
Responsibilities include:
cleaning (45%), bathing (5%), administrative (5%), and supervising dogs (45%).
• Must have Reliable Transportation. Punctuality is essential to this role
•Availability required on weekends and holidays Pet Sitting is NOT equivalent experience to social playgroup environment with dogs of different households and temperaments Duties Manage and maintain a safe, clean, calm, and fun playroom Address dog behavioral issues proactively through your understanding of dog language & behavior. Use redirection, recall, and basic training methods, but will NEVER include using physical force or punishment. Zero-tolerance for mistreatment of animals. Continually monitor play areas and spot clean (picking up poo and mopping pee) Maintain cleanliness of kennels by performing regular cleaning tasks including, but not limited to, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing kennels, beds, and toys. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to management Assist with animal restraint during grooming as needed. Help with heavy lifting tasks related to animal care, such as moving supplies or large dogs. Occasional administrative tasks. Skills Experience in pet care, with a strong understanding of animal behavior and handling techniques. Proficiency in animal restraint methods to ensure safety for both staff and pets. Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments confidently. Must be able to work on your feet for long periods and able to lift up to 50lbs. Capability to perform heavy lifting tasks as necessary within the kennel environment. Familiarity with kennel operations, including cleaning protocols and pet grooming practices.
