Job Description

Overview Part-time trainer (evenings & possible weekends) Are you hardworking, driven, devoted, and able to work evening & weekends? Do you love dogs? Do you love helping people? Do you possess great customer service skills? This is a part-time position and the schedule is mostly evenings and weekends. We are looking to add another independent contract trainer in the Omaha. This is a demanding and challenging profession. We need someone that is highly driven to establish professional relationships and be successful. Responsibilities Consulting with clients to discuss behavioral concerns and training needs. Identifying additional behavioral concerns and communicating them to clients. Developing suitable training plans for dogs and documenting their progress. Teaching dogs to obey basic commands using various training techniques that are best suited to each dog's personality and attributes. Implementing appropriate training programs to address and resolve problem areas, including aggression, separation anxiety, hyperactivity, and biting. Ensuring that the training areas are clean and tidy. Teaching clients appropriate training methods to enforce and maintain behaviors and skills learned by their dogs during training sessions. Contacting clients to schedule training appointments, verify bookings, and inquire into overdue payments. Skills High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of dog training techniques as well as animal behavior and body language. Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills. Strong dog handling skills. Effective communication skills. A love for dogs. Patient and enthusiastic.

•Minimum job requirements: Must reside in the Omaha area (training facility is in LaVista). Must have reliable transportation. Must complete a certification process. There will be some expense. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Must complete a 30 day certification process. The cost of this certification is $250 paid by new hire to instructor. Most of the training is in Lincoln, NE.

•Day to day requirements: Handling and training small and large breeds from puppy to adult. Working with dogs needing behavior modification from anxiety to aggression. Interacting with the public in a professional manner. Continuing education and increasing skill in training, both dogs and human.
