Job Description
The duties of this job revolve around the daily care of dogs at Camp Canine. The primary focus is to ensure that the animals are constantly monitored in a social setting while maintaining a safe and clean environment. Handlers are expected to understand dog body language and behavior and use that knowledge to mediate play. It is also the Handler's responsibility to spot clean and deep clean, and take dogs on brief relief walks during set times throughout the shift. Handlers ensure that the dogs (and cats!) in our facility are treated with loving care. The job's essential requirements include, but are not limited to: Ability to lift 40 pounds Ability to handle, in a controlled manner, dogs of any size and breed Ability to read and/or understand written instructions/labels Ability to act with a professional demeanor at all times Flexible availability to be able to work any hours that business demands Pet care and safety responsibilities: Engage with pets in a safe manner Understand and recognize dog behavior in a group setting; ability to distinguish between play and play escalation Ability to identify and stop any unacceptable behaviors; ability to separate dogs who are playing too rough or fighting Walk dogs on leash for relief walks following strict safety protocol Clean up and discard pet stools and urine with a sense of urgency Promptly report any health, behavior, or safety concerns to the Shift Lead on duty Clean and sanitize all pet enclosures and playrooms
