Full Job Description Company Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Dog Trainer to work our Saturday Puppy Social Classes on the east side of Rochester, NY. This is a great opportunity for a trainer who enjoys working with puppies and their owners and understands how to create a fun, educational, and—most importantly—safe environment for everyone involved.
Position Details:
Puppy Social Classes are held every Saturday from 9:45 AM to 11:15 AM, excluding holiday weekends. Compensation is attendance-based and ranges from $30 to $55 per session. The trainer will be responsible for overseeing puppy interactions, helping owners better understand their dogs, answering questions, and identifying behaviors that may require intervention to keep the class safe and enjoyable.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise weekly puppy socialization sessions. Monitor interactions between puppies and recognize appropriate vs. potentially unsafe behavior. Proactively intervene when necessary to maintain a safe environment for puppies and participants. Help owners understand puppy behavior, body language, socialization, and appropriate play. Provide basic training guidance and practical recommendations to puppy owners. Create a welcoming, positive experience for customers. Manage groups of puppies with different personalities, sizes, energy levels, and stages of development. Maintain control and organization throughout each session.
Qualifications:
Previous dog training experience required Strong understanding of canine behavior and body language Ability to quickly identify potentially unsafe interactions and respond appropriately Comfortable managing multiple dogs and owners in a group setting Clear and confident communication with dog owners Dependable and consistently available on Saturday mornings Patient, professional, attentive, and comfortable working in an active environment
Compensation & Schedule:
$30-$55 per session, based on attendance Saturdays from 10:45 AM-12:30 PM EST Classes are not held on holiday weekends Position is located on the east side of
Rochester, NY Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate combines hands-on dog training experience with excellent people skills. We are looking for someone who can confidently read canine behavior, keep group interactions safe, and make puppy owners feel comfortable asking questions and learning more about their dogs. Interested candidates should apply with a brief description of their dog training experience, experience working with customers or dog owners, and Saturday availability.

$18.00 - $27.00 per hour
