Job Description

The Pup Parent Manager position is available at Bergin College of Canine Studies in Canyonville, Oregon. The college is seeking a qualified candidate to support and oversee puppy foster placements (Pup Parents) who help raise, train, and enrich pups before they are placed with Bergin College students or clients. Puppies in foster homes range from 14 weeks to approximately two and a half years old, with placements varying from short-term stays and weekends to several months. Bergin College places working dogs in a variety of roles, including Service Dogs, Facility Dogs, Hearing Dogs, Senior Service Dogs, Scent Detection Dogs, reading companions for children, and other specialized positions.
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
Associate of Science degree Graduate of Bergin College in one of the following programs: Assistance Dog Education Cynology Service Dog Seminar Teaching credential or experience teaching dog training classes (preferred)
Core Responsibilities & Skills:
Identify and evaluate appropriate Pup Parents (foster homes) Knowledge of puppy development stages and behavior Ability to teach handlers proper training methods and reinforcement strategies Basic medical knowledge to guide Pup Parents on health, nutrition, and well-being Provide ongoing support to Pup Parents, including some evenings and weekends Maintain supply inventories and program resources Plan and coordinate puppy exposure to varied environments Manage scheduling for in-home visits and group activities Teach Pup Parent classes to BUCS students Strong communication, record-keeping, and public relations skills This is a full-time position with benefits.
