Job Description
Job Overview Join our vibrant team as a Dog Handler/Dog Assistant at our lively doggie daycare! In this energetic role, you will be the heart of our facility, ensuring that every dog receives attentive care, proper handling, and a safe, fun environment to socialize and play. Your enthusiasm and animal handling skills will help create a positive experience for our furry clients and their owners alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with dogs of all breeds and temperaments, contributing to their happiness and well-being while developing your expertise in pet care. Prior experience in handling dogs within a kennel and play yard environment is highly valued but not required. You will be handling dogs as large as 150+ lbs. or as small as 3lbs. You will be indoor or outdoor, weather permitting. You will be required to clean up after dogs both inside and outside of their play areas including cleaning dog rooms, dog bowls and any basic need a dog may have. You will be required to maintain a safe and protected environment for the dogs. Duties Safely handle and restrain dogs during examinations, treatments, and behavior Conduct dog training sessions and behavioral assessments as needed Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and equipment to ensure a safe environment. Engage in heavy lifting when necessary to move animals or supplies safely Offer excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their pets' needs Ability to be on your feet for a 5-hour+ time frame Ability to work weekends and/or Holidays (Non-Negotiable) Qualifications Prior experience in dog handling or kennel work preferred but not required Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior Strong animal handling skills with the ability to restrain animals safely and humanely Ability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods during shifts This role is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to build a rewarding career in pet care.
