The Dog Penn is a unique indoor/outdoor dog park and bar where patrons can relax with a drink while their dogs enjoy off-leash play in a safe, supervised environment. We operate as a private dog park where we require proof of vaccinations and a membership (day pass, monthly or annual) for pups. People do not require a membership And can always come grab a drink and pet some cute dogs! We're committed to providing a clean, welcoming, and secure space for dogs and their owners to socialize. We're currently hiring for the Dog Monitor (Scamp Counselor) position to help oversee our dog play areas and ensure a positive, safe experience for everyone—human and canine alike. This role combines elements of dog handling, safety monitoring, and guest interaction.
SPECIFICALLY NEED FRIDAY & SATURDAY NIGHTS.
Responsibilities:
Monitor dog behavior in the play areas and proactively manage interactions to prevent conflicts Enforce park rules with professionalism and consistency Intervene calmly and safely when play escalates or aggressive behavior occurs Assist owners with questions or concerns related to dog behavior or park rules Maintain cleanliness and safety standards throughout the facility Communicate effectively with other staff to ensure smooth daily operations
Requirements:
Prior experience working with dogs in a professional setting (e.g. dog daycare, training, shelter, veterinary clinic) Strong understanding of canine body language and group play dynamics Confident and calm in managing high-energy environments and potential conflicts Comfortable interacting with guests and enforcing rules in a respectful, firm manner Physically able to be on your feet for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work indoors/outdoors in various weather Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
Pet CPR/First Aid certified a plus Experience with basic dog training or animal behavior management Hospitality or security experience a plus
