Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong commitment to providing excellent service to both pets and their owners. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the animals in our care while maintaining a clean and organized environment. Responsibilities Provide daily care for dogs and other animals, including feeding, exercising, and grooming as needed. Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and equipment to ensure a safe environment for all animals. Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management. Assist with dog training and socialization activities to promote positive behavior. Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques during grooming or medical procedures. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their pets' needs and well-being. Assist veterinary staff with basic tasks as needed, including animal restraint and care during examinations. Support pet sitting services when required, ensuring pets receive appropriate attention while their owners are away. Qualifications Previous experience in animal handling or care is preferred; kennel experience is a plus. Knowledge of dog training techniques and veterinary practices is highly desirable. Experience as a veterinary technician or assistant is beneficial but not mandatory. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners. Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when handling larger breeds or moving equipment. A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential.
