Shift Time We are looking for someone to help out on a few mornings per week, typically 630a to either 11a, or 12p, occasionally later if we have someone out sick or traveling that week. Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays mostly - occasionally a Tuesday morning or weekend It is possible to work some weekends or afternoons when another employee is out, but this is not guaranteed. Responsibilities Supervising dogs during playtime, feeding, and rest periods to ensure safety and positive interactions. Perform dog handling duties including animal restraint, basic grooming such as nail trimming (trained with us), separation/risk aversion during playtime, to promote good behavior and comfort. Monitor dogs for signs of stress or health issues, reporting any concerns to management and the customer promptly. Support basic wound assistance by providing animal care for small knicks and scuffs. Maintain cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and grooming stations to uphold hygiene standards. Engage pet owners with friendly communication about their pets' activities and well-being during visits or drop-offs. Possibility for heavy lifting when necessary to control a dog during playtime for animals safely. Things we Look For Ability to demonstrate organization skills and good memory - helpful for dogs belongings and food/medication instructions, insuring proper reading of instructions and distributions of food and medicine during meal times A desire to learn dog handling techniques that promote safety and socialization. Those looking to move into the veterinary or any dog/animal field in the future are a plus so we can help you get started with some dog experience. A desire to learn basic pet grooming, such as nail trimming, ear cleaning, and bathing. Bonus if you already have knowledge of animal restraint methods and proper animal care procedures. Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members. Demonstrate comfort with all breeds and sizes of dogs and can be relaxed in tense situations. Attention to detail - including the ability to recognize dog behavior quickly to prevent risky situations - bad behavior between dogs is best avoided with diversion and separation before they even happen.
