Assistant Trainer Requirements:
Must have 2 years of experience as a Trainer, Assistant Trainer, or related position.
Must have experience in:
  • Develop marketing and communication strategies for clients in the selection, pre-purchase, and acquisition of reining horses.
  • Experience with automatic, manual, 3-point implements, welding, and hydraulic equipment for the maintenance and restoration of farm assets.
  • Experience with logistical and record-keeping systems for the purchase, categorization, and renewal of shavings, feed, fuel, and other daily needs.
  • Develop reining horse training methods including spins, stops, and lead change maneuvers.
Duties:
Starting colts & preparing them for their first rides, including sacking out, groundwork, saddling, and lunging. Assisting with riding, saddling, bathing, and general horse care of all training and client horses. Showing and maintaining show horses for all ages. Maintenance of farm equipment, tack, arenas, and vehicles for daily use. Assisting with vet care & emergencies, including giving medication, restraint, bandaging, and pain evaluation while working with the barns veterinarian. Driving horse trailers, grain carts, and shaving trailers when needed. Helping non-professional riders during riding lessons. Managing other employees including oversight of feed and commodity orders, stall and barn maintenance and cleaning, saddling, show preparation, and billing. May supervise the work of cleaning staff.
