Solitude Dog Coordinator Specialist Appointment Type:

Seasonal Full Time Overview:

This is a non-supervisory position that will provide coordination for training and handlers. The dog coordinator is responsible for representing and supporting the needs and direction of Solitude Mountain Resorts dog program. The coordinator will share all WBR business with Solitude Management. The dog coordinator reports to the Director of Patrol, Ski Patrol Manager, and Avalanche Mitigation Manager. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Solitude Ski Patrol Union.

Key Requirements:

Must be employed as a Solitude Mountain Patroller Current Level A certified dog handler or prior experience as Level A certified dog handler Fulfills all WBR requirements for a Dog Coordinator Ski Patrol Level 2 or above

Duties:

Solitude dog committee representative for Wasatch Backcountry Rescue (WBR) Must correspond regularly with WBR dog committee, primary and secondary dog handler specialists and management Attends and represents Solitude at all WBR dog committee meetings Attends and represents Solitude during WBR fundraisers and other approved events Responsible for planning, coordination, and to conduct internal weekly training/drills Organizes and conducts summer and winter trainings with outside agencies and WBR Involved in new dog selections along with patrol management Organizes and conducts Level A tests and test sites for WBR teams Provide guidance to primary and secondary handler on annual goals Responsible for maintaining insurance for Solitude K9 teams Job description is not inclusive of all responsibilities and may be modified as deemed necessary by operational needs.
