Our facility offers daycare and boarding, group classes, private lessons, and training services, with an emphasis on individualized care and a low dog-to-staff ratio of approximately 5:1. Our approach is rooted in positive reinforcement, and creating an environment where both dogs and people can feel safe and supported. We're looking for an experienced and dependable Daycare Manager who can lead a small team, oversee daily operations, and help maintain the high standard of care our clients expect. Position Overview The Daycare Manager is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the safe and smooth operation of our daycare and boarding program. You'll supervise a team of up to five employees while also working directly with dogs throughout the day. This position requires someone who can balance dog behavior and safety, staff leadership, client communication, administrative responsibilities, and the practical realities of running a busy daycare. Our ideal candidate is calm under pressure, comfortable making decisions, organized, technologically comfortable, communicates clearly, and genuinely enjoys helping both dogs and people succeed. Key Responsibilities Dog Care & Safety Supervise daycare playgroups and ensure safe, appropriate, and positive interactions. Read canine body language and make appropriate decisions about playgroups, introductions, breaks, and individual dog needs. Monitor dogs for changes in behavior, stress, health, comfort, or safety.

Help staff recognize healthy play, over-arousal, fear, frustration, and situations requiring intervention. Use and reinforce positive reinforcement-based handling practices. Assist with feeding, walking, enrichment, cleaning, boarding care, and other daily responsibilities as needed. Team Leadership Lead and support a daycare team of up to five employees. Provide clear direction, coaching, and constructive feedback to staff. Help train and onboard new daycare employees and apprentices. Delegate responsibilities and ensure daily tasks are completed accurately and on time. Model professional, compassionate, and safe handling practices.

Help create a positive workplace culture built around communication, accountability, teamwork, and continued learning. Daily Operations & Administration Coordinate the flow of daycare and boarding throughout the day. Make decisions about staffing, playgroup organization, dog placement, and changing operational needs. Ensure dogs are properly accounted for throughout the day. Ensure feeding instructions, medications, client notes, and individual care instructions are followed accurately. Manage the daycare scheduling system, including maintaining accurate reservations, attendance, staffing information, and schedule changes. Maintain training documents, operational resources, staff task lists, and other records within our electronic platform. Keep electronic task lists current and help ensure assigned tasks, follow-ups, and ongoing projects are completed. Document important behavioral, training, safety, and operational information so that staff and trainers have accurate and up-to-date information. Create and contribute content for social media that reflects the dogs in our care, our training philosophy, and the personality of our daycare community. Help capture appropriate photos, videos, and updates from daycare for educational and promotional content. Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming facility.

Identify safety concerns and communicate incidents or operational problems promptly. Client Communication Build positive relationships with daycare and boarding clients. Communicate professionally about dogs' experiences, behavior, and care. Work with training staff when dogs may benefit from additional behavioral or training support. Help ensure clients feel confident that their dogs are receiving attentive, individualized care. QualificationsPrevious professional dog daycare, boarding, training, veterinary, shelter, or similar animal-care experience strongly preferred. Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred. Strong understanding of canine body language and safe dog-to-dog interactions. Commitment to positive reinforcement and humane, evidence-informed handling practices. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a busy environment. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable using scheduling software, electronic documentation systems, shared task lists, and other workplace technology. Strong attention to detail and ability to keep digital records and administrative tasks organized. Comfortable creating basic social media content, including photos, short videos, captions, and educational or behind-the-scenes posts. Comfortable providing direction, feedback, and support to employees. Reliable, punctual, and able to take ownership of responsibilities. Ability to work in an active environment that includes standing, walking, cleaning, bending, and handling dogs of different sizes. Most importantly, we're looking for someone who takes both dog welfare and people management seriously .
