Job Description
Overnight Dog CaretakerAbout SkyDance Pet Lodge At SkyDance Pet Lodge, we are committed to providing exceptional, individualized care so every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while away from home. We are looking for a dependable, responsible, and animal-loving Overnight Dog Caretaker to help ensure our overnight guests are safe and well cared for while maintaining a clean, organized, and secure facility. Position Summary The Overnight Dog Caretaker is responsible for caring for boarding guests and monitoring the facility throughout the night. The beginning of the shift focuses on cleaning, organizing, and completing facility tasks. The remainder of the shift includes scheduled dog and facility checks, monitoring guests, and responding to any needs that arise. There may be periods of downtime between assigned responsibilities. During these times, employees may rest or nap as long as all duties are complete and they remain available and ready to respond promptly to pets or facility needs. This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, comfortable working independently, attentive to detail, and genuinely passionate about animals. Essential Functions Conduct scheduled overnight checks of dogs and boarding guests Monitor pets for changes in health, behavior, or well-being Respond to pets needing attention or assistance Ensure dogs are safely secured in designated areas Perform scheduled facility and security checks Complete cleaning and organizational tasks throughout the shift Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized facility Document and communicate important observations or concerns Follow all care, safety, emergency, and security procedures Communicate with management regarding concerns or incidents Respond appropriately to unexpected situations or emergencies Safely lift 50+ pounds and perform physical tasks, including bending, stooping, lifting, and walking Work independently while maintaining a high level of responsibility and attention to detail Skills & Qualifications Professional pet care experience IS required. Reliable, trustworthy, and responsible Has reliable transportation to and from work Self-motivated and able to work independently Comfortable with cleaning and organizational tasks Detail-oriented and observant Able to follow care instructions and established procedures Comfortable monitoring pets and recognizing when something is unusual Willing to promptly communicate concerns to management Comfortable working overnight hours and responding when needed Available to work weekends and holidays as needed Optimistic, eager to learn, and committed to doing the job right Ready to treat our furry guests like their own Excited to grow with a company that values quality pet care Ready to embrace the SkyDance Values Benefits & Perks Full-time or part-time opportunities may be available Overnight shift: 8:30 PM-5:30 AM $18.00-$20.00/hour , depending on experience Tips in addition to hourly pay (typically $1.00-$3.00/hour , depending on the time of year) Health, dental, and vision insurance available 401(k) Employee discounts on daycare, boarding, and retail items Opportunities for growth within the pet care industry and SkyDance team Weekend availability strongly preferred Holiday availability may be required Interested in Joining the SkyDance Team?
