Dog Bather

• Part-Time Central Bark Sheboygan is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Dog Bather to join our grooming salon team.

This is a part-time position to start, with approximately 15-20 hours per week. This individual will be responsible for handling our Bath-Only and Spa Bath appointments and will work independently with their own scheduled clients. No professional bathing or grooming experience is required. We are willing to train the right person. Previous experience working with dogs or in a professional grooming environment is a bonus, but it is not necessary. For this position, we care just as much about attitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn as we do previous experience. We are looking for someone who:

That part is pretty much guaranteed. Compensation & Training Candidates who require training will begin as an hourly employee during their initial training period, for up to approximately 90 days. Once training is successfully completed and the employee can independently perform Bath-Only and Spa Bath services to Central Bark's standards, the position will transition to commission-based compensation plus tips. Candidates who already have sufficient professional bathing experience and do not require training may be eligible to begin on commission immediately. • Optional weekend opportunities may also be available Additional scheduling flexibility is expected to become available beginning in mid to late October. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Independently complete scheduled Bath-Only and Spa Bath appointments
• Bathe dogs using the appropriate shampoos, conditioners and products for their coat and service
• Thoroughly rinse coats and ensure all products are properly removed
• Safely towel-dry and blow-dry dogs using appropriate drying techniques
• Brush and comb coats thoroughly
• Perform deshedding services when scheduled
• Trim and Dremel nails
• Clean ears
• Brush teeth
• Perform anal gland expressions when appropriate and once properly trained
• Complete finishing touches appropriate for each service
• Ensure dogs leave clean, dry, brushed and professionally finished
• Identify mats, skin concerns, coat-condition issues or anything unusual and communicate concerns appropriately
• Safely handle dogs of different breeds, sizes, temperaments and energy levels
• Monitor dogs for signs of stress or discomfort and adjust handling accordingly
• Maintain accurate service and customer notes
• Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized bathing area
• Clean and sanitize tubs, dryers, crates, tools, floors and other equipment
• Keep products and supplies stocked and organized
• Build positive relationships with clients and their dogs
• Follow all Central Bark safety, sanitation and animal-handling procedures Skills & Qualities We're Looking For Love of Dogs You must genuinely enjoy working with dogs.

This role involves working hands-on with dogs of different sizes, personalities, coat types and energy levels throughout your shift. Attention to Detail A professional bath is much more than shampooing a dog. We expect our bathers to notice the details — thoroughly rinsed coats, properly dried dogs, clean ears, finished nails, brushed coats and areas that may need additional attention. The goal is for every dog to leave looking and feeling professionally finished. Willingness to Learn We do not expect someone without experience to know everything on day one. We do expect you to listen, ask questions, practice and continuously improve your skills. Coachability Training involves feedback. The right candidate must be able to accept constructive criticism professionally, understand what needs to change and apply that feedback to future appointments. Patience Not every dog enjoys baths, dryers or nail trims. Some dogs may be nervous, wiggly, vocal or simply having a bad day. You must be able to remain calm and patient while still safely completing the service. Dependability Clients have scheduled appointments specifically with our salon. You must arrive on time, follow your schedule, manage your appointments responsibly and communicate if an issue arises. Time Management Once trained, you will be responsible for managing your own scheduled bath appointments throughout the day. You must be able to work efficiently without sacrificing quality or safety. Physical Ability This is an active, physical position.

You must be able to:

• Stand for extended periods
• Bend, reach and kneel
• Safely handle dogs of different sizes
• Lift approximately 50 pounds when necessary
• Work around water, dog hair and cleaning products
• Perform repetitive brushing, drying and bathing tasks Experience Previous experience is not required. Experience in any of the following is considered a plus:
• Professional dog bathing
• Dog grooming
• Doggy day care or boarding
• Veterinary care
• Animal shelters or rescues
• Kennel environments
