Canine Trainer

Seeking a skilled, dedicated and empathetic dog trainer to join our team! The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience working with dogs of all temperaments, and is well-versed in proven training techniques across obedience, socialization, reactivity, aggression, and other areas of behavior modification. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients and management, as well as provide support to kennel staff during regular daycare and boarding activities. Candidates must feel confident working with unfamiliar dogs of all breeds while working in an outdoor farm setting.

Duties:

• Prioritize a dog's welfare while providing patient, effective correction and reinforcement
• Adapt training methods to suit individual dogs' needs and temperaments
• Engage and communicate with clients about the objectives and progress of a training regimen, and thoroughly address any questions or concerns
• Assist with behavioral assessments, and work with clients and other trainers to develop actionable training plans
• Provide guidance to other canine caregivers on canine behavior and body language
• Utilize proper safety and intervention techniques when required to ensure the safety of dogs and staff on property
• Monitor health and behavior of all dogs in your care; in group settings, ensure safe and appropriate canine interactions
• Help maintain a clean and safe environment

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in dog training, preferably in a professional or kennel setting
• Skilled in reading canine body language and behavioral cues
• Dedicated to providing high-quality care for all animals in your charge
• Must be passionate about your work, and committed to providing patient and consistent instruction
• Willingness to support kennel staff with the care, exercise and general welfare of dogs attending day camp or overnight boarding
• Comfortable working outside in all types of weather
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when needed for larger dogs or equipment
• Highly desired: flexible scheduling, and the ability to work weekends and holidays as necessary
