barkbarn is looking for a dependable, hardworking, dog-loving Canine Care & Enrichment Specialist to join our team! This position is hands on and active. Our team members are responsible for providing exceptional care to dogs staying with us for daycare and boarding while maintaining a clean, safe, structured, and enriching environment. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with dogs, takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and understands that caring for dogs involves much more than simply letting them outside. What You'll Do Daily Dog Care Safely supervise and care for daycare and boarding dogs throughout the day Take dogs outside regularly for potty breaks and bathroom needs Monitor dogs for changes in behavior, appetite, energy level, stool, or overall health Clean up accidents and maintain clean, sanitary dog areas Ensure dogs always have access to fresh, clean water Feed each dog according to their individual feeding instructions Properly administer medications when required and document them appropriately Follow individual dog care instructions provided by owners Monitor dogs during meals, play, rest, and transitions Recognize signs of stress, illness, injury, overstimulation, or inappropriate behavior and communicate concerns to management Exercise & Enrichment At barkbarn, we believe dogs need more than just physical exercise—they need opportunities to use their brains and decompress.
You will help provide:
Structured walks Trail walks and "Sniffaris" on our mountain property Individual attention and one-on-one time Play and enrichment activities Food-based enrichment and puzzles Basic obedience and training reinforcement Structured playgroups when appropriate Calm activities and decompression time Mental stimulation throughout the day Safe, appropriate socialization with other dogs Our goal is calm, structured, fulfilled dogs—not chaos and overstimulation. Keeping our facility clean is a major part of this position.
Responsibilities include:
Cleaning kennels and dog areas throughout the day Picking up dog waste Vacuuming Sweeping Mopping Cleaning food and water bowls Washing bedding, towels, and other supplies Operating laundry equipment Disinfecting surfaces and high-touch areas Maintaining clean and organized storage areas Restocking supplies Keeping indoor and outdoor areas safe and presentable Completing opening and closing cleaning duties What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Reliable and dependable Comfortable working around dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and temperaments Physically capable of being on their feet for most of the shift Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions Comfortable walking dogs and handling multiple dogs safely Detail-oriented and able to follow specific care instructions Able to stay calm and professional in stressful situations A strong communicator Willing to take direction and accept feedback Able to work independently once trained Proactive-you see what needs to be done without always being asked Someone who takes pride in keeping a facility clean and organized Passionate about providing excellent care for animals Comfortable with repetitive cleaning and physical work What makes barkbarn Different? barkbarn isn't a traditional "drop your dog off and leave them in a kennel all day" facility. Experience Previous animal care, kennel, daycare, boarding, grooming, veterinary, training, or pet-care experience is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right person. What matters most is your work ethic, reliability, attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine love for dogs. Important This job is not just playing with puppies all day. It involves real responsibility, physical work, cleaning, dog handling, early mornings, outdoor work, and attention to detail.
