School Director /Office Manager Pay rate: $ 22.00 per Hour Position Summary The Substitute Cosmetology Instructor provides classroom and clinic-floor coverage when a regularly scheduled instructor is absent or additional instructional support is needed. The substitute instructor is responsible for maintaining a professional, safe, organized, and positive learning environment while ensuring students remain engaged and continue progressing in their cosmetology education. The instructor will follow the school's established curriculum, procedures, schedules, and expectations while supervising students in practical instruction and client services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide substitute instructional coverage for cosmetology/manicuring classes as assigned. Follow the school's established curriculum, lesson plans, and daily classroom schedule. Provide practical instruction when required. Supervise students performing practical assignments and client services. Maintain active supervision of students on the clinic floor. Assist students with proper techniques while encouraging professionalism and independence. Monitor student practical assignments and classroom activities as directed. Maintain classroom and clinic-floor organization and cleanliness. Ensure tools, implements, workstations, and equipment are properly cleaned and disinfected. Enforce school policies, classroom expectations, dress code, and professional conduct. Maintain appropriate instructor-to-student professional boundaries. Communicate student concerns, incidents, injuries, disciplinary issues, or unusual situations to school administration. Complete required instructor paperwork and documentation before the end of the assigned shift. Assist with classroom or clinic-floor cleanup and ensure the instructional area is properly prepared for the next class. Perform other instructional duties reasonably assigned by school administration. Qualifications Must hold a current and valid California Cosmetology License. Cosmetology, Barbering, Manicuring teaching or salon experience preferred. Knowledge of current cosmetology, Barbering, and manicuring practices, sanitation, disinfection, and safety procedures. Ability to demonstrate and explain procedures clearly. Ability to effectively supervise and communicate with students. Must demonstrate professionalism, dependability, patience, and strong classroom-management skills. Must be able to follow established curriculum and school procedures. Must be available to work on an on-call or as-needed basis. Substitute Instructor Expectations Because this is a substitute position, the instructor must be able to enter an established classroom or clinic environment and maintain continuity of instruction. Substitute instructors are expected to follow the regular instructor's lesson plan and school procedures rather than make significant changes to the curriculum or classroom structure without administrative approval. The Substitute Instructor is expected to maintain the same standards of professionalism, student supervision, safety, sanitation, and documentation required of regularly scheduled instructors.
