Duties Deliver Professional Barbering Services Perform a full range of barbering techniques—including precision haircuts, fades, tapers, beard shaping, line-ups, and straight-razor shaves—with consistency, attention to detail, and artistry. Provide Grooming Enhancements Offer additional services such as hot towel treatments, scalp massages, facial grooming, and barber-grade styling to elevate the client experience. Utilize Barbershop Management Software Use scheduling and POS systems (e.g., MINDBODY or similar software) to book appointments, update client profiles, track services, and process payments accurately and efficiently. Consult With Clients to Personalize Services Conduct thoughtful consultations to understand each client's style preferences, hair texture, and grooming goals. Recommend cuts, treatments, or products that best suit their needs. Maintain Top-Tier Sanitation and Safety Standards Disinfect tools, clippers, razors, and workstations regularly. Follow state board regulations and shop protocols to ensure a clean and safe environment for clients and staff. Support Front-End Operations Greet clients with professionalism, manage appointment flow, answer questions, and assist with check-in/check-out to ensure smooth daily operations. Mentor and Collaborate With Team Members Share expertise with junior barbers or apprentices by demonstrating cutting techniques, client communication skills, and customer-service best practices. Foster a supportive, team-driven atmosphere. Drive Retail Engagement Recommend grooming products—including pomades, beard oils, shaving essentials, and styling tools—using retail strategies to meet individual and shop-wide sales goals. Stay Current With Industry Trends Keep up with modern styles, cutting methods, product innovations, and grooming trends to offer fresh and contemporary services to clients. Contribute to Shop Culture and Operations Assist with restocking supplies, maintaining an inviting shop environment, and supporting shop leadership to ensure daily operations run smoothly. Experience Proven experience in cosmetology or barbering with a strong portfolio of hairstyling work. Familiarity with Barber software platforms like BOOKYSY, MINDBODY, SQUIRE, for appointment booking and client management. Knowledge of sanitation protocols essential for maintaining a safe environment for clients and staff. Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse clients while providing outstanding customer service. Experience in retail sales with an aptitude for upselling products such as hair treatments, beard oil, and skin creams. Mentoring experience preferred for guiding new team members in technical skills and customer interactions. Strong organizational skills to manage front desk duties efficiently while supporting store management functions.
