• Your choice: hourly or commission — plus 100% of your tips either way About 4:59 Barber Lounge 4:59 Barber Lounge is a growing, Indianapolis-owned barber lounge and salon with three locations — Westfield, Keystone (86th Street), and a new downtown shop on North Pennsylvania Street. We are a team of about 35 people who take this craft seriously: precise clipper work, sharp lines, clean fades, a professional shop, and a client experience good enough that people schedule their next cut before they leave the chair. This is not a booth-rent situation and it is not a chain. You get a real book of business, a front desk that works the phones and the schedule for you, product on the shelf that clients actually want, and an owner who is in the business every week. You choose how you get paid Most shops hand you one pay structure and tell you to live with it. We let you pick the one that fits how you work: Hourly — $16 to $37 per hour, plus 100% of your tips. Predictable income every check, regardless of how the week walks in the door. Where you start in that range depends on your experience and how full your chair is; you move up it as you pass our training test, build your book, and keep clients rebooking. Good if you're building a book, coming back behind the chair, or you just want to know exactly what your paycheck looks like. Commission, plus 100% of your tips. Your pay scales with your book. Commission increases when you pass our services, pricing, and timing test — the test is the gate, not the calendar, so a strong barber can move up quickly — with two more increases as you hit client rebooking milestones. Best if you're fast, retain well, and want your ceiling as high as you can push it. Either way you earn tiered product commission on retail sales on top of your pay, and you can revisit your choice as your book grows. What you'll do Cut and style — tapers, fades, scissor work, kids' cuts, and full-service men's haircuts Beard trims and shaping, straight razor head shaves, hot towel service, and our Beard Conditioning Treatment Consult with every client, recommend the right service and add-ons, and prescribe their next appointment interval before they leave the chair — our front desk closes the booking Recommend and sell retail from Reuzel, Gibs, Kevin Murphy, and Moroccanoil Manage your own schedule, notes, and client records in Mangomint Keep your station, tools, and the shop floor clean and sanitary to Indiana State Board standards Contribute to a professional shop culture — show up on time, communicate through the team chat, and support your coworkers What we're looking for A current Indiana Barber or Cosmetology license (or a license you can transfer before your start date) — required Strong clipper and fade work, comfort with a straight razor, and solid beard work Genuine interest in retaining clients, not just filling a chair for the day Reliable, coachable, and professional with clients and coworkers New graduates are welcome to apply — our training program is built for it Training and support Every new team member goes through a structured 5-day onboarding with a trainer, using our Stylist & Barber Training Manual — service standards, timing, pricing, product knowledge, and our consultation and rebooking method. You will know exactly what is expected of you and exactly what it takes to earn your next raise. Schedule We're open seven days a week: Monday-Friday 9:00am-7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm. Full-time and part-time schedules available. Weekend availability is required.
