This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults by helping our residents feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. Our ideal candidate understands that working within a memory care community requires more than excellent cosmetology skills. Many of our residents are living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia and may require additional patience, reassurance, flexibility, and a gentle approach during services. We are looking for someone who can create a calm, welcoming salon experience while treating every resident with dignity, kindness, and respect. Services may include haircuts, styling, shampooing, blowouts, coloring, perms, and other appropriate cosmetology services based on resident needs and preferences. The stylist should be comfortable adapting services and communication techniques to meet the individual abilities and comfort levels of our residents. Requirements Current and valid cosmetology license Current professional liability insurance Experience working with seniors or individuals living with dementia is preferred Compassionate, patient, and respectful demeanor Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently within a memory care environment Commitment to maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming salon space Dependability and professionalism when working with residents, families, and community staff

Patient and Understanding:

Comfortable working at a resident's pace and providing additional time, reassurance, redirection, or explanation when working with individuals living with dementia.

Dementia-Friendly Communication:

Able to communicate calmly and effectively with residents who may experience confusion, anxiety, memory loss, difficulty communicating, or changes in behavior.

Men's and Women's Hair Services:

Skilled and comfortable providing haircuts, styling, shampooing, blowouts, and other salon services for both male and female residents.

All Hair Types and Textures:

Experienced working with a wide variety of hair types, textures, lengths, and styles and able to accommodate the individual preferences and needs of our diverse resident population.

Hair Color and Chemical Services:

Knowledgeable and experienced in coloring, perms, and other appropriate chemical services while maintaining resident comfort and safety.

Nail Services:

Able to provide basic manicure and nail-care services in a gentle, sanitary, and professional manner.

Waxing Services:

Experienced in providing appropriate facial waxing and other cosmetology-related waxing services.

Adaptability:

Able to modify services when necessary based on a resident's mobility, comfort level, cognitive abilities, behaviors, or changing needs.

Safety and Sanitation:

Maintains excellent infection-control, sanitation, and salon-safety practices, particularly when working with an older and potentially vulnerable population.

Professionalism and Dependability:

Reliable, organized, and able to communicate professionally with residents, families, caregivers, and Smoke Ranch Memory Care team members.

Relationship Building:

Able to develop trusting relationships with residents and create a salon environment that is calm, familiar, enjoyable, and welcoming.
