Cosmetology Job Summary This position carries with it the obligation to uphold the Mission of North Central Texas College in carrying out the duties of the position. A commitment while embracing positive interpersonal behaviors, professional communication, integrity, leadership, stewardship, respect and accountability to our students and employees. It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course and program objectives and to contribute to the overall educational environment of the college and community and to provide related services such as academic advising, committee participation, professional development, community development as well as other service support that is needed in the fulfillment of the North Central Texas College's Mission. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Instruct in all areas of Cosmetology. Supervision of daily activities and tasks of students. Follow state standards in developing course outlines, goals, and objectives. Prepare and deliver effective lectures and lab demonstrations as outlined in the syllabus; administer weekly grades in Canvas. Demonstrate positive and professional conduct toward students, co-workers, and school patrons at all times. Begin class on time; maintain punctual arrival to ensure absolute preparedness. Ensure all safety and sanitation requirements are being met. Comply with the NCTC and cosmetology dress codes and policies at all times. Demonstrate understanding of and encourage all learning styles and temperaments. Track and advise students on their academic progress. Supervise student duties to ensure a clean and safe work and learning environment. Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Maintain state licensure and requirements. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the need of the department and the institution. Required Education High School Diploma or GED. Completion of Cosmetology Instructor Program from and accredited college or institution. Must hold a current Cosmetology Instructor license in the state of Texas. Required Skills & Abilities Must hold current Texas Cosmetology Operator License. Maintain state licensure and requirements. Possess strong time management and organizational skills. General computer knowledge. Preferred Skills & Abilities Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply but it is not a requirement. Required Experience Must have at least three years of verifiable experience in the field of Cosmetology. General computer knowledge. Preferred Experience Would prefer applicants with at least two years teaching experience. Special Instructions to Applicants Subject to a criminal background check. Hourly rate - $30/hour. A resume and copy of license are required in addition to the application. Letters of employment will need to be provided upon hiring to verify years of experience. Based on the Gainesville campus.
