Job Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Barber provides grooming services to patients in the Psychiatric Restoration Unit to support dignity and well-being. This role aims to enhance patient appearance, teach principles of personal grooming, and promote hygiene in a safe and therapeutic environment. Essential Functions Provide basic grooming services including conventional haircuts and trims using cordless trimmers. Perform beard trims when scheduled in advance and time allows. Maintain equipment in clean, safe, and operable condition report maintenance needs to designated staff. Follow infection control and sanitation protocols to ensure a hygienic work environment. Work under supervision with a Behavioral Health staff member present at all times. Use clean and sterilized tools and ensure patients are appropriately prepared for services. Maintain accurate inventory and track all tools and equipment used during services. Adhere to institutional policies related to patient interaction and safety. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Ability to provide grooming services with professionalism and respect for patient dignity. Demonstrated understanding of infection control and hygiene practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and responsive in high-stress or unpredictable environments. Good judgment, critical thinking, and independence in task management. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or Equivalent including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role. (Preferred) Licenses/Certifications Licensed Barber in the state of practice Upon Hire (Required) Experience Prior Experience providing barber services (Preferred) And Prior Experience in behavioral health or similar patient care settings (Preferred)
