Bathing & Spa Assistant — Topknot Pet Salon & Spa Job Summary Topknot Pet Salon & Spa is looking for a kind, dependable, and experienced Bathing & Spa Assistant to join our team on weekends. We are a low-volume, boutique grooming salon that prioritizes gentle handling, quality over speed, and creating a calm, positive experience for every dog. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of professional dog-handling or bathing experience, genuinely enjoys working with dogs, and is eager to continue learning and growing their grooming skills. We are looking for someone who is patient, attentive, hardworking, and treats every dog with the same care and respect they would want for their own. Responsibilities Safely and gently handle dogs throughout their bathing and grooming experience. Perform professional bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, and coat preparation. Trim and maintain nails safely and comfortably. Assist the groomer with preparing dogs for their haircut. Recognize signs of stress, fear, or discomfort and adjust handling appropriately. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary grooming environment. Properly clean and disinfect tubs, tables, tools, and work areas between appointments. Help keep dogs comfortable, calm, and supervised throughout their stay. Communicate professionally and kindly with clients when needed. Follow salon safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. Be willing to learn and follow Topknot's grooming and handling standards. What We're Looking For 2+ years of professional dog bathing/handling experience preferred. A genuine passion for dogs and animal care. Gentle, patient, and respectful handling techniques. Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to fearful, anxious, or nervous dogs. Strong attention to detail and pride in your work. Reliable and punctual Comfortable working on your feet and safely lifting and handling dogs. Team-oriented, positive, and willing to learn. Professional and friendly communication with both clients and coworkers. Fear Free certification is a plus, or willingness to become certified.
