Are you a licensed cosmetologist who is passionate about curly and textured hair and eager to grow your skills? This is first and foremost an assistant position, but it is also an opportunity to work directly alongside curly hair specialist Olivia Joy while receiving ongoing education, hands-on training, and mentorship in curly hair. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to be an excellent assistant, become part of a fast-paced salon environment, and build a strong foundation in curly hair before taking on more responsibility behind the chair. This is not a quick transition-to-stylist position. The goal is to grow intentionally over time while mastering the fundamentals, becoming confident in the salon environment, and learning what it takes to work with curly and textured hair at a high level. What the Role Looks Like Your primary responsibility will be assisting Olivia throughout the salon day and helping create a smooth, efficient, elevated client experience.

Responsibilities may include:

Shampooing and detangling clients Preparing clients for services Assisting with curly styling and diffusing Supporting custom color and lightening services Preparing color and supplies Sectioning hair and assisting throughout technical services Resetting and maintaining a clean, organized workspace Keeping the salon day moving efficiently Supporting the client experience from start to finish Helping with general salon organization and sanitation Learning how to anticipate what is needed in a fast-paced environment As your skills develop, additional hands-on responsibilities and education will be introduced gradually. What You'll Learn While working as an assistant, you will receive ongoing mentorship and education in: Curly cutting techniques Curly styling and diffusing techniques across a variety of curl types and textures Understanding curl patterns, density, porosity, and individual hair needs How to choose products based on curl type, texture, hair needs, and desired result Custom color and lightening techniques specifically designed for curly hair Curly hair extension techniques, maintenance, and care Shampooing, detangling, and properly preparing curly hair for services Sectioning and supporting advanced technical services Client consultations and curly hair education Product knowledge Salon timing, workflow, organization, and efficiency Creating a high-level client experience Building the technical and professional foundation needed for a long-term career behind the chair Who We're Looking For You do not need to already be an expert in curly hair.
