Gabriella Charter Schools is composed of two high-performing, dance-themed charter schools in the Los Angeles community. GCS 1 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Echo Park. GCS 2 serves grades TK-8 and is located in the community of Historic South Central. GCS has garnered accolades, including the State's Distinguished School Award and Exemplary Arts Program Award, the California Honor Roll, California Gold Ribbon Award, the Title 1 Achievement Award, California Pivotal Practice Award, the California Charter School of the Year award, and a ranking by USC as one of the best charter schools in California. GCS has also been recognized for its success in serving students with disabilities and under-resourced families. In 2020, Innovate Public Schools, in partnership with USC, ranked GCS1 as a top public middle school for low-income Latinx students in English and math and ranked GCS1 and GCS2 as top public elementary schools for low-income Latinx students in English and math. Job Summary Job Summary The Part Time Costume Assistant will assist the Lead Costume Designer with the creation and implementation of dance costumes for the End of the Year Performance for Gabriella Charter School 1 and Gabriella Charter School 2. They will help with purchasing materials for all costumes and supervising a team of family volunteers who will make all costumes and distribute them to students two weeks before the performance date, typically in late May. The ideal candidate has experience with costume design and creation, is extremely organized and is able to work well with a team.
