August 25, 2026 Job Summary The Costume Shop Assistant supports the Theatre Arts Department in the preparation, organization, construction, and maintenance of costumes throughout the production season. This position assists with costume-related tasks to help ensure productions are prepared and presented successfully. Essential Job Functions Assist with building, constructing, altering, and repairing costumes for theatre productions. Organize, maintain, and properly store costume stock and shop materials. Assist with taking and recording costume measurements. Assist with costume fittings and adjustments as directed. Help maintain an organized, clean, and safe costume shop. Assist with preparation and organization of costumes for rehearsals and performances. Perform other costume shop and production-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to use a sewing machine is preferred but not required. Interest in theatre, costumes, sewing, fashion, or related creative work is helpful. Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and students. Willingness to learn new skills and assist with a variety of costume shop tasks. Job Expectations Able to work regularly scheduled hours as assigned. Dependable and punctual. Able to work effectively as part of a production team. Willingness to assist with additional tasks as needed during the production season.
