Position:

(Purpose of the Position): To assist with creation and maintenance of the costumes for the Theater and Dance Department productions.

• Teamwork Duties and Responsibilities:

• Construction and alteration of all costume elements for the Theater and Dance Department mainstage productions.
• Maintain, launder, and repair costumes during the run of the performances
• Assist in maintaining costume stock
• Assist in general shop upkeep

Qualifications:

(Education/Experience/Skills)

Required :

• At least one-year previous work in this position
• Ability to wind and load a bobbin, thread the machine, and change the needle on both domestic and industrial sewing machines with minimal assistance or supervision
• Ability to pin, machine stitch, and press with precision after instruction is given.

Physical and Environmental Factors:

This position requires crouching, stooping, twisting/pivoting, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs., operating hand tools, and operating equipment or machinery to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise, respiratory factors, chemicals, proximity hazards, and heights or cramped quarters, as well as rare exposure to wet or humid conditions indoors to perform the essential functions. Protective equipment is required for some essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
