Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Certified Crematory Operator to oversee the proper operation of cremation equipment and ensure respectful handling of remains. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of cremation procedures, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance, while providing compassionate support to families during difficult times. This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a sensitive and essential service within the funeral industry, emphasizing professionalism, technical expertise, and emotional support. Duties Operate cremation machinery and post-cremation processing equipment in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations. Conduct traditional cremation processes, ensuring all procedures meet legal and ethical guidelines. Transport remains for cremation with careful handling, maintaining dignity and respect throughout the process. Witness cremations to ensure transparency and adherence to client requests and regulatory requirements. Assist with cremation ceremonial arrangements, providing support to families and coordinating logistics for memorial services. Maintain detailed records, through our software, of each cremation, including chain-of-custody documentation, in compliance with regulatory standards. Troubleshoot industrial equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation of the crematory facility. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including heavy lifting techniques, hazardous material handling, and facility safety inspections. Ensure compliance with all crematory regulations and funeral ethics standards governing the handling and disposition of remains. Requirements Minimum 1 year of experience operating a crematory retort required. Crematory Operator Certification preferred, but not required. Relevant experience is equally valued. Proven experience operating cremation equipment and familiarity with post-cremation processing machinery. Mechanical knowledge related to industrial equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while managing the transport of remains or equipment. Strong customer service skills with an empathetic approach toward grieving families. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for transporting remains when necessary. Commitment to safety protocol adherence, regulatory compliance, and ethical standards within the funeral industry. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or evenings as required by service schedules.
