Crematory Operator / Mortuary Technician We are seeking an experienced and certified Crematory Operator / Mortuary Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on position responsible for cremations, decedent identification and tracking, cooler management, and general mortuary support. Previous crematory experience is required. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of accuracy, proper identification, documentation, cleanliness, and respectful care of every decedent. Responsibilities Perform human cremations safely and according to company procedures and legal requirements Process cremated remains and prepare them for release Review cremation authorizations and required documentation before cremation Maintain accurate cremation and cooler logs Verify decedent identification, including toe and ankle tags, at intake and throughout the cremation process Verify incoming decedents against accompanying documentation Pull and prepare decedents from the cooler as requested Document and properly handle personal property Maintain cleanliness and organization of the crematory, retort, processor, cooler, and surrounding work areas Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of crematory equipment Troubleshoot and correct minor retort or equipment issues when appropriate Assist with decedent pickups and transportation when needed Assist with dressing, casketing, and funeral services when needed Complete other mortuary-related duties based on daily workload Requirements Previous professional crematory experience required Current crematory operator certification required Knowledge of cremation procedures, identification, documentation, and chain of custody Ability to safely lift up to 90 lbs Comfortable working around human remains Valid driver's license and reliable driving record Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures exactly Dependable, professional, and able to work independently Must be available for occasional overtime and weekend cremations based on volume Schedule & Benefits Full-time schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM . Additional overtime, including occasional Saturdays or Sundays, may be required depending on cremation volume.
