Job Summary Join our compassionate team as a Pet Care & Cremation Technician , where you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care for pets, whether they are staying with us for boarding or daycare or entrusted to us for their final journey. This hands-on position combines animal care with pet aftercare services, including caring for boarded pets, maintaining clean and safe kennel environments, transporting pets, operating cremation equipment, and ensuring every family receives respectful, compassionate service during a difficult time. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in both pet care and cremation settings. You should have a genuine love for animals, strong communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to maintain professionalism while following safety procedures and regulatory requirements. Duties Primary Responsibilities Safely operate traditional cremation and alkaline hydrolysis equipment while following all safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Transport pets to and from veterinary clinics, homes, and partner facilities with compassion, professionalism, and accurate documentation. Conduct witness cremations when requested, ensuring a respectful, professional, and compassionate experience for families. Assist families with memorial and cremation arrangements by answering questions and providing caring, respectful service. Maintain accurate records of cremations, transportation, chain of custody, and post-cremation processing to ensure compliance and quality control. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of cremation equipment and notify management of any mechanical issues. Safely lift and move pets, urns, equipment, and supplies while following proper lifting techniques and workplace safety standards. Feed, water, and monitor boarded pets, ensuring they are comfortable, healthy, and receiving proper care throughout their stay. Clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, food and water bowls, bedding, and common areas to maintain a safe, healthy environment. Walk dogs, supervise playtime, and provide exercise and enrichment activities based on each pet's needs and temperament. Observe pets for signs of illness, injury, stress, or behavioral changes and promptly report concerns to management. Administer medications as directed and accurately document treatments when required. Assist with pet check-ins and check-outs, verifying feeding instructions, medications, and special care requests. Maintain inventory of pet care, cleaning, and cremation supplies, notifying management when items need to be reordered. Work collaboratively with the grooming, boarding, daycare, and cremation teams to ensure exceptional care and service for every pet and family. Keep all work areas clean, organized, and presentable while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, compassion, and customer service. Experience Previous experience in funeral directing or related fields is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate. Mechanical knowledge or experience with industrial equipment troubleshooting is highly advantageous. Strong customer service skills with an ability to provide compassionate emotional support to clients during difficult times. Ability to operate vehicles for transporting remains or equipment safely; valid driving license required. Kennel Maintenance and upkeep Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and move items safely throughout the workday. Prior experience with record keeping, safety procedures, or industrial processes will support success in this role.
