Job Description

JOIN OUR OPENING TEAM
Join the opening team at APOGEE and help create an extraordinary new spa, skincare, and wellness experience for members and guests in Hobe Sound, Florida. This dual-licensed leadership role combines hands-on massage therapy, body treatments, facials, and skincare services with responsibility for treatment standards, provider development, quality assurance, product knowledge, operational readiness, and Florida massage-establishment compliance. Working closely with the Spa Director, this individual will help establish the protocols, service culture, and member relationships that define APOGEE from day one. We are seeking an accomplished professional who leads by example, embraces innovation, values genuine hospitality, and brings equal commitment to technical excellence, safety, education, and team development.
JOB SUMMARY
The Lead Licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician provides highly personalized massage, body, facial, and skincare treatments while serving as the technical, educational, and service leader for both treatment disciplines. The position maintains an active treatment schedule and supports the Spa Director with onboarding, training, protocol development, competency review, quality control, retail education, inventory awareness, scheduling readiness, and ongoing professional development. When formally designated for APOGEE's massage-establishment license, this role also serves as the Designated Establishment Manager and practices at the licensed establishment while supporting compliance with applicable Florida requirements.
LEADERSHIP AND TEAM DEVELOPMENT
Serve as the technical and service leader for Massage Therapists and Estheticians. Lead by example through exceptional treatment quality, professionalism, member service, product knowledge, reliability, discretion, and teamwork. Support the Spa Director with pre-opening preparation, provider onboarding, orientation, and operational readiness. Train providers on APOGEE protocols, consultation standards, products, equipment, sanitation, room setup, documentation, retail recommendations, and member-experience expectations. Conduct treatment demonstrations and hands-on coaching, and help confirm provider competency before independent performance of treatments or use of new equipment. Mentor providers with clear, respectful feedback and identify needs for continuing education, product knowledge, or technical development. Maintain consistency across both treatment departments while preserving appropriate personalization for each member or guest. Communicate team needs, operational concerns, member feedback, safety issues, and improvement opportunities to the Spa Director.
MASSAGE AND BODY TREATMENT SERVICES
Perform massage and body treatments according to approved APOGEE protocols and within the Florida massage-therapy scope of practice. Conduct thorough consultations to understand goals, preferences, areas of focus, comfort levels, health considerations, and contraindications. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Swedish and deep tissue massage and provide approved prenatal massage, reflexology, hot stone treatments, aromatherapy, body wraps, and body scrubs. Incorporate approved modalities, including sports massage or Thai massage when appropriately trained, based on member needs and established protocols. Maintain exceptional draping, positioning, body mechanics, professional boundaries, and respect for member comfort, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality. Modify, postpone, or decline a service when a contraindication, safety concern, or scope-of-practice limitation requires it.
FACIAL AND SKINCARE SERVICES
Provide knowledgeable, results-focused, and highly personalized facial and skincare treatments according to approved protocols and applicable Florida scope-of-practice requirements. Perform comprehensive consultations and skin analyses that consider skin type, condition, sensitivities, concerns, lifestyle factors, and individual goals. Perform approved cleansing, exfoliation, extractions, masks, facial massage, hydration services, and other professional skincare treatments. Use approved skincare technologies and equipment only after required training and in accordance with manufacturer instructions, sanitation standards, and established protocols. Explain procedures, benefits, expected outcomes, aftercare, and appropriate home-care recommendations in clear and professional language. Recognize contraindications and appropriately modify, postpone, or decline a service when necessary.
TREATMENT PROTOCOLS AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
Partner with the Spa Director to implement, maintain, test, and refine massage, body, facial, and skincare protocols. Help establish consistent standards for service timing, sequencing, product use, equipment use, room setup, consultation, draping, documentation, and member communication. Participate in evaluating and launching new treatments, products, equipment, technologies, and wellness concepts. Monitor treatment consistency and coach providers when improvement is needed. Reinforce knowledge of anatomy, skin conditions, contraindications, sanitation, infection control, professional boundaries, documentation, and scope of practice.
FLORIDA DESIGNATED ESTABLISHMENT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities in this section apply when the employee has been formally designated as APOGEE's Designated Establishment Manager in the records of the Florida Department of Health. The job title alone does not complete or replace the required designation process. Maintain an active, unrestricted Florida Massage Therapist license and practice massage therapy at the licensed APOGEE establishment. Support the establishment's compliance with Chapters 456 and 480, Florida Statutes, and applicable rules of the Florida Board of Massage Therapy, including Rule 64B7, Florida Administrative Code. Help ensure the massage-establishment license and required practitioner information are current and appropriately displayed or maintained. Monitor required sanitation, safety, professional-conduct, recordkeeping, identification, employee-information, and operational practices and promptly escalate deficiencies to the Spa Director and establishment owner. Help maintain and reinforce the establishment's human-trafficking awareness, reporting procedure, required employee training, and required postings. Cooperate with inspections, licensing inquiries, and requests from authorized regulatory agencies, and coordinate corrective action with spa leadership when needed. Immediately notify the Spa Director and establishment owner of any change that could affect eligibility or ability to serve as the Designated Establishment Manager, including a license restriction, lapse, leave, separation, or inability to practice at the establishment. Support the establishment owner in timely notification to the Department when a Designated Establishment Manager changes, including the statutory 10-day notification requirement following termination of the designation. Complete any background screening, attestations, applications, continuing education, or other documentation required for the designation and continued eligibility.
MEMBER AND GUEST EXPERIENCE
Deliver warm, gracious, intuitive, and highly personalized hospitality consistent with APOGEE's service standards. Anticipate needs, create a calm and unhurried treatment experience, and address members by name whenever possible. Develop trusted, long-term relationships and maintain awareness of treatment history, preferences, sensitivities, and goals. Provide thoughtful recommendations for future treatments, skincare programs, enhancements, products, and complementary wellness services. Assist providers with complex requests or treatment questions and communicate member feedback to spa leadership. Protect all member and guest information and maintain the highest level of professional discretion.
CONSULTATIONS AND RECORDS
Conduct professional consultations and ensure documentation standards are consistently followed across both treatment disciplines. Maintain detailed, accurate, timely, legible, and confidential treatment records consistent with APOGEE policy and applicable law. Document relevant preferences, conditions, sensitivities, allergies, contraindications, areas of focus, products used, modifications, equipment settings when applicable, recommendations, and home-care plans. Review previous treatment history to support continuity and personalization. Help ensure required massage-establishment employee and service records are collected, retained, protected, and available as required.
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE RETAIL AND INVENTORY
Maintain expert knowledge of professional and retail products used or sold by APOGEE, including key ingredients, benefits, indications, contraindications, and appropriate combinations. Serve as a product-knowledge resource and support provider education for new collections, launches, protocols, and home-care recommendations. Recommend products and enhancements authentically, based on individual needs and treatment plans, without creating a pressured sales experience. Assist the Spa Director with par levels, back-bar products, testers, samples, professional supplies, receiving, storage, labeling, and replenishment needs. Monitor product usage, identify unusual consumption or waste, and anticipate needs related to promotions, events, seasonal services, and new launches.
TREATMENT ROOMS SANITATION AND SAFETY
Ensure treatment rooms meet APOGEE standards for cleanliness, organization, presentation, stocking, privacy, and operational readiness throughout the day. Prepare and reset rooms according to approved protocols and ensure linens, products, tools, equipment, supplies, and amenities are properly stocked and presented. Reinforce all applicable sanitation, disinfection, hygiene, infection-control, and safety requirements. Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, disinfected, stored, operated, and maintained according to approved protocols and manufacturer guidance. Promptly report maintenance, equipment, sanitation, safety, inventory, or product concerns to spa leadership.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND SPA OPERATIONS
Coordinate with the Spa Director regarding treatment-provider training and development needs and help facilitate pre-opening training. Attend and help coordinate required vendor, product, equipment, treatment, regulatory, and company training. Stay current with massage therapy, skincare, ingredients, technologies, body treatments, wellness practices, safety requirements, and industry developments. Maintain all required licenses, certifications, continuing education, and professional qualifications. Review daily schedules and help ensure both treatment teams are prepared for appointments, special requests, and operational adjustments. Partner effectively with the Spa Director, Spa Desk associates, Locker Room Attendants, Wellness professionals, and other APOGEE team members. Participate in spa meetings, member events, skincare and product launches, wellness programming, and special initiatives. Follow and reinforce all APOGEE policies, procedures, treatment protocols, grooming standards, and service expectations.

Advanced knowledge of massage therapy, body treatments, professional esthetics, skincare practices, anatomy, skin conditions, ingredients, contraindications, sanitation, professional boundaries, and applicable scopes of practice. Experience with luxury skincare collections and approved advanced facial technologies preferred. Strong consultation, documentation, retail, home-care recommendation, coaching, organization, and communication skills. Professional, polished, warm, confident, tactful, proactive, dependable, and detail-oriented demeanor. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and peak club periods as required.
