Job Description

For generations, families in Ottawa have relied on neighbors helping neighbors during life's most difficult moments. At Dengel & Son Mortuary, that tradition has continued since 1947, and today we are looking for Support Staff who share a genuine desire to serve their community with care, professionalism, and respect. This role is ideal for someone who values meaningful work, takes pride in doing the right thing when it matters most, and understands the importance of quiet compassion in a small town setting like Ottawa—where relationships are personal and trust is earned over time. About the Role Support Staff assist in many capacities around the funeral home to ensure that families and their guests are well cared for during services and visitations. No two days are the same. You may greet families and visitors, help prepare for and assist during funeral and memorial services, and escort families and guests to cemetery services. Support Staff also provide behind the scenes support by assisting with administrative tasks, answering phones, running errands, and helping maintain a clean, welcoming, and well prepared funeral home environment. This role is an important part of creating a calm, respectful experience for families during some of life's most meaningful moments. We're seeking individuals who: Treat families, decedents, and coworkers with professionalism and compassion Are dependable, calm under pressure, and able to work independently as part of a trusted team Communicate clearly and respectfully in sensitive situations Take pride in representing a long standing community institution Position Highlights Part time, after hours schedule with varying availability Per transfer compensation for work performed outside normal business hours Opportunity to support families in meaningful ways without requiring licensure Conservative, professional environment focused on teamwork and respect Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving standards Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role with assistance as needed Willingness to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis Professional appearance and respectful demeanor at all time To veiw a complete job description please click here!
