Job Description

Overview:
The Family Service Counselor provides exceptional, personalized service to families while serving as their primary point of contact throughout the planning process. This role is instrumental in building meaningful relationships, delivering compassionate guidance, and generating revenue for the funeral home and/or cemetery through preneed and at-need service offerings. The Family Service Counselor is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with families and community members by providing timely, professional, and empathetic service. Success in this role requires proactive follow-up, lead generation, and relationship-building to expand market share and promote heritage planning opportunities. All responsibilities must be performed in accordance with the company's mission, vision, and values, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage with individuals and families to educate them on pre-need funeral and cemetery options. Conduct in-home or in-office presentations, community seminars, and follow-up appointments. Develop and maintain relationships within the community and with referral partners. Ensure compliance of operating procedures with federal, state and local regulations and organizational policies and prepare required documentation Meet and exceed monthly sales goals through proactive outreach and relationship management. Maintain records of all client interactions in our CRM system with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Serve as a caring and professional resource for families during planning conversations. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software; experience with funeral home management software is a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate compassionately and professionally with families, colleagues, and community members.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science or Funeral Service Education from an accredited program required. Valid New Jersey Funeral Director license in good standing Active Life Insurance License or willingness to obtain (if required by state). Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. 2+ years of successful sales experience (insurance, financial services, or funeral/cemetery industry preferred). Comfortable with in-person and phone-based sales presentations.

Job Type/Work Hours/Days:
In person Full-time Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm
Pay Structure :
Base Pay (W2) with Benefits Bonus based on quota attainment 1099
