This is a meaningful, people-focused position for someone who enjoys working with families and takes pride in providing exceptional service during important moments in their lives. The Family Services Counselor will serve as a personal representative of Fairview to families and funeral homes , assisting with cemetery services while also helping families with their future cemetery needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Family & Funeral Services
  • Meet funeral homes and families when they arrive at Fairview.
  • Lead and direct funeral processions from the cemetery entrance to the appropriate gravesite, mausoleum, or other service location.
  • Ensure the cemetery portion of each service is organized and proceeds smoothly.
  • Coordinate with Fairview's grounds staff to ensure gravesites and service locations are properly prepared.
  • Assist families and funeral home personnel with cemetery-related needs.
  • Provide a warm, professional, and reassuring presence throughout cemetery services. Family Services & Cemetery Sales
  • Meet with families interested in cemetery arrangements.
  • Conduct tours of Fairview Cemetery.
  • Explain burial, cremation, mausoleum, and memorialization options.
  • Assist families in selecting cemetery property and services appropriate to their needs.
  • Develop pre-need relationships and follow up with prospective families.
  • Develop sales opportunities, including Fairview's new mausoleum.
  • Build long-term relationships with families and local funeral homes.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for someone who is:
  • Compassionate, personable, and comfortable working with grieving families.
  • Professional and confident when interacting with funeral directors, clergy, and families.
  • Comfortable taking the lead and directing people and vehicles during cemetery services.
  • A strong communicator and active listener.
  • Comfortable discussing pricing and sales in a thoughtful, non-pressure manner.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Comfortable spending time outdoors and walking throughout our 105-acre cemetery.
Experience in cemetery or funeral service, sales, real estate, insurance, hospitality, or exceptional customer service is helpful, but we are willing to consider the right candidate based on their personality, professionalism, and ability to connect with people.
SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
Approximately 30 hours per week , generally Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Some flexibility will be required to accommodate scheduled funeral services, which may occasionally fall outside normal hours.
Compensation:
$28-$32 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. This is primarily a family-facing position and does not involve reception, answering phones, or general office administration.
