Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Embalmer and Funeral Director to join our dedicated team. This vital role combines the art and science of mortuary practices with exceptional client service, ensuring that families receive respectful, personalized care during their most difficult times. As a key member of our funeral services team, you will be responsible for preparing deceased individuals with dignity, coordinating funeral arrangements, and providing empathetic support to grieving families. Your expertise will help create meaningful farewell experiences that honor loved ones and provide comfort to those they leave behind. Responsibilities Perform embalming procedures using mortuary science principles to preserve and restore the appearance of deceased persons, ensuring they are presented respectfully for viewings and funerals. Apply cosmetic techniques to deceased individuals to achieve natural and dignified appearances, including skin restoration and hair styling. Conduct heavy lifting and manual handling of bodies safely, adhering to sanitation standards and safety protocols. Coordinate funeral event planning, including scheduling services, managing logistics, and ensuring all arrangements align with family wishes. Provide bereavement support by offering compassionate communication, guidance through the funeral process, and emotional reassurance to grieving clients. Operate company vehicles for body transportation and funeral service needs while maintaining safety standards. Utilize funeral service technology for record keeping, scheduling, and communication with families and vendors. Maintain strict sanitation and dissection protocols within the mortuary environment to ensure health standards are met. Communicate effectively with clients regarding funeral options, pricing, and services while demonstrating excellent customer service skills. Assist with cremation processes when required, ensuring compliance with all regulations and respectful handling of remains. Qualifications Certification in mortuary science or funeral directing from an accredited institution; licensure as required by local regulations. Proven experience in embalming, cosmetic application for deceased persons, and funeral event planning. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, dissection techniques, and organ preservation methods. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks efficiently in a mortuary setting. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple arrangements simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail. Exceptional client communication skills with a compassionate approach to bereavement support. Familiarity with funeral service technology systems for record management and scheduling purposes. Knowledge of sanitation protocols, dissection procedures, and cremation processes. Valid driver's license with experience operating company vehicles in a professional capacity.
