JOB DESCRIPTION 1. JOB TITLE
Laundry Attendant 2.
DEPARTMENT
Housekeeping 3.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Ensure that all of the hotel's linen is properly laundered, dried and stored each day. 4.
EMPLOYEE MANUAL
All employees must completely understand the requirements of their job. Prior to being assigned to the position, a complete understanding of the Employee Manual is necessary since the person holding the position will be subjected to the rules and regulations listed in the manual. 5.
ESSENTIAL TASKS
Duties:
Sorting Laundry :
Separate items by color, fabric, and cleaning requirements.
Washing :
Operate washing machines, ensuring the correct settings for different types of laundry.
Drying :
Use dryers and ensure items are dried properly without damage.
Folding and Ironing :
Fold and iron linens, towels, and other items to hotel standards.
Stain Treatment :
Identify and treat stains using appropriate cleaning agents.
Inventory Management :
Keep track of laundry supplies and report when stock needs replenishing.
Equipment Maintenance :
Perform routine checks and maintenance on laundry machines and report any issues.
Delivery :
Transport clean laundry to various hotel departments as needed.
Record Keeping :
Maintain records of laundry loads, special treatments, and any damages.
Cleaning :
Keep the laundry area clean and organized. a. Receive and sort dirty linens. b. Pre-soak stained linen. c. Set aside unusable linen in the appropriate discard area. d. Load washers according to the instructions. Know load limits. Prepare proper concentration of cleaning chemical. e. Dry, fold and store linen in appropriate location. f. Clean lint filters in dryers daily. g. Clean behind and above dryers on a weekly basis. h. Keep laundry room clean. Mop floor as necessary. i. Follow proper
OSHA/HAZCOM
procedures. j. Never allow linen to sit on floor. k. Bring any equipment problems to the attention of the Director of Housekeeping. l. Other duties as assigned. 6.
