Job Description
Position Summary:
The Laundry Attendant at Hyatt Place plays a crucial role in ensuring that guests have a pleasant and comfortable stay. Their main responsibility is to maintain the cleanliness and organization of the hotel's linens and laundry facilities. They do more than just wash and fold laundry; they help uphold the high cleanliness standards Hyatt is known for. Being detail-oriented, managing time well, and having a strong work ethic are essential for this position. Laundry Attendants also collaborate with other hotel departments to promptly respond to guest needs and requests. A successful Laundry Attendant not only excels in maintaining the laundry operations but also possesses a positive attitude, good teamwork skills, and is committed to providing excellent service to enhance the guest experience. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned): To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Clean and maintain laundry facilities Sort, wash, dry, fold, and store linens and towels, ensuring they are ready for distribution throughout the hotel Ensure all necessary laundry supplies, such as detergents, fabric softeners, and cleaning agents, are stocked and replaced as needed Safely and efficiently operate washing machines, dryers, and pressing machines, following standard operating procedures to maintain hygiene standards Identify stained or damaged linens and process them separately, applying special treatments as needed to restore their quality Promptly attend to and resolve any guest requests related to laundry services, ensuring high levels of satisfaction Occasionally helps deliver linen to storage Follow all safety and security protocols to maintain a safe working environment for guests and colleagues Work closely with team members to achieve departmental goals and deliver exceptional laundry services Maintain hotel standards by managing laundry to meet guest expectations, including handling lost and found items and ensuring the privacy and security of guest belongings Alert the appropriate department to any maintenance issues or damages in the laundry area for timely resolution Follow environmentally friendly practices and procedures to contribute to the hotel's sustainability initiativesOther Essential Duties:
(Continued) Attends hotel and department meetings and other functions required by management Communicates all pertinent information to Housekeeping Supervisor and/or Executive Housekeeper Must be available to work weekends and holidays Arrives to work on time, ready to clock in, in a clean/pressed uniform and non-slip shoes Must maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming Wears name tag at all times when at work Must be attentive, courteous and efficient at all times when dealing with the guests and co-workers Comply at all times with compliance standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow employees and other departments within the hotel in such a manner that promotes harmony and goodwill throughout the workplace Be familiar with all policies and hotel rules, and hotel terminology Must be capable of self-supervision and have the ability to manage time accordingly in order to complete the required workQualifications Requirements:
A minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in hotel housekeeping Minimum age requirement of 18 yearsKnowledge and Skills:
Proficiency in multitasking is essential Ability to meet the needs of others in a dynamic and fast-paced setting Possess a friendly demeanor and the ability to address guest requests and concerns promptly and courteously Proficiency in using laundry equipment and supplies, including washers, dryers Understanding of hotel safety and sanitation protocols to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for guests and staff Capability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy laundry loads, bending, and standing for extended periods Knowledge of safety protocols for handling and using laundry detergent and other cleaning chemicals safely Ability to keep track of laundry supplies, restock as necessary, and maintain an organized and efficient work areaReasoning Ability:
Laundry Attendants require strong reasoning skills. They should be able to think clearly about situations, make good decisions, and know which tasks to prioritize to ensure the hotel's linens and guest laundry are clean and fresh. They must also quickly adjust to changes, such as handling special requests for laundry services or addressing issues that arise during their shift.Physical Demands:
As a Laundry Attendant, you will engage in various physical activities that require stamina, agility, and attention to detail. You will spend a lot of time on your feet sorting, washing, drying, folding, and organizing linens and towels. The job involves lifting and moving items like large bags of laundry and supplies, so physical strength and safe lifting practices are important to avoid injuries.
