Job Description

Job Summary:
To sort soiled laundry safely and efficiently for processing in accordance with equipment specifications. Move washed laundry to dryers and operate per equipment specifications. Fold laundry per hotel standards and store in appropriate location.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Ensure an environment in which high standards of associate service and quality of the product is a priority. Responsible for the cleaning of laundry, linens and cleaning supplies per company standards and equipment specifications. Ensure the laundry equipment is inspected before use and any deficiencies are corrected before use. Ensure that the laundry room is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion. Assist with cleaning rooms or other duties when needed. Report any maintenance or safety deficiencies in a timely manner. Comply with all safety requirements of the job and company policies. Respond to supervisor and houseperson requests within 10 minutes of the call. If that is not possible, a supervisor should be informed. Identify stained or torn laundry and place it in discard receptacle. Communicate effectively and professionally in person and over the radio. Put the needs of the customer first while maintaining a positive attitude. Acknowledge all guests and co-workers within 15 feet and speak to them within 5 feet. Necessary Skills and Attributes:
Able to follow directions to meet the goals of the daily tasks. Good co-worker relations. Ability to set priorities.
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Basic Mathematic knowledge. The ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Knowledge of cleaning materials and required tools. Bilingual preferred.
Experience:
1 year's hotel housekeeping or similar industry preferred. Will train on the job.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, stand, bend, walk, use ladders, push carts. Use of hands to finger or feel objects, tools, or controls, lift boxes, bags, and supplies, lift weight up to 50 pounds. Talk, hear and have vision abilities to be able to see dirt, hair, and other debris. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions including cold, heat and rain.
