Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University is seeking a Laundry Attendant/Sewing Worker for the Laundry Department within Dining Services. Under the guidance and supervision of a Laundry Group Leader or other senior dining service worker, performs laundry procedures. Also operates sewing machine and handles sewing work. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Receives soiled laundry, counts and verifies against receipt for accuracy. Informs Laundry Group Leader of discrepancies. Sorts laundry, loads washing machines, adds detergent and/or other laundry products. Washes, dries, folds or hangs items. Sorts according to operating units. Maintains facilities and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition. Operates sewing machine and attachments to repair uniforms, draperies, curtains, etc. Mends, fits, tailors, and irons uniforms, linens, draperies, curtains, etc. Reports questionable conditions to supervisor. Performs related duties as required.
