This is not a traditional salon manager position, and it is not a position focused on building a personal clientele. Your primary responsibility will be to train, coach, and develop our nail technicians while maintaining consistent service quality throughout the salon. We are looking for someone who is technically excellent in nails, enjoys teaching others, has strong attention to detail, and can identify exactly why a service or technique needs improvement. What You'll DoTrain & Develop Our Nail Technicians Train new and existing technicians in Nebula Nails service standards and techniques Demonstrate proper nail preparation, shaping, product application, finishing, and removal Observe technicians while they work and provide constructive, hands-on coaching Identify weaknesses in technique and create plans to help technicians improve Help technicians improve service consistency, efficiency, and overall quality Assist in developing standardized Nebula Nails techniques and training procedures Evaluate technicians as they progress through training Maintain Service Quality Regularly review completed services for quality and consistency Identify recurring technical issues such as lifting, shaping inconsistencies, uneven application, premature breakage, or service-quality problems Help troubleshoot difficult nail situations Make sure Nebula's service standards are consistently followed by the entire team Help reduce redos and prevent service problems before they reach the customer Support Technicians on the Salon Floor When the salon becomes extremely busy, you may occasionally step in to assist a technician—for example: Finishing gel color application Helping with removal or preparation Assisting with cleaning or finishing portions of a service Correcting a difficult shape or application Helping technicians stay on schedule This position is not expected to maintain a full appointment book or generate traditional technician sales. Your main job is to make our technicians stronger. Customer & Reception Support Step in when technicians need assistance communicating with customers Help resolve service concerns professionally Explain services and recommendations to customers when needed Support the reception desk during busy periods Learn our scheduling, checkout, and salon-management systems Help maintain a calm, organized, professional salon environment What We're Looking For We are specifically looking for someone with advanced nail skills . Most importantly, you must be able to do more than perform great nails yourself. You must be able to look at another technician's work, identify what is wrong, explain why it happened, and teach them how to correct it. The Person We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you: Have several years of professional nail experience Have exceptional attention to detail Take pride in technically excellent nail work Enjoy teaching and developing other people Can give constructive criticism respectfully Are patient with technicians who are learning Can communicate professionally with customers Are comfortable handling difficult customer situations Are organized and dependable Can lead without creating unnecessary tension within the team Are comfortable working in both a training and management environment Hold all licensing required to professionally perform nail services in New Jersey Previous salon-management experience is helpful, but strong nail knowledge and the ability to teach are more important to us than having a management title on your résumé. Compensation $56,000-$62,000 per year , depending on experience, technical ability, and training/leadership experience. Full-time position. Our Goal Nebula Nails is building a standardized service and training system so that our quality does not depend on any single technician. We want our technicians to understand not only how to perform a service, but why each step is performed. The Service Quality & Training Manager will play an important role in developing and maintaining what we call the Nebula Standard —a consistent level of technique, service, cleanliness, and customer care throughout our team. Hiring Process Because technical ability is extremely important for this position, qualified candidates should expect a practical skills evaluation during the interview process.
We will evaluate both:
1. Your ability to perform high-quality nail services and 2. Your ability to teach and correct another technician If you are an experienced nail professional who loves the industry but is interested in moving beyond a traditional appointment-based technician role and into education, quality control, and team development , we'd love to hear from you.
