Healing Mountain Massage School in Salt Lake City is looking for an Assistant Spa Manager who wants to expand their impact beyond the practitioner room and help shape the next generation of massage therapists. Job Summary:
The Assistant Spa Manager will support daily spa operations by assisting with staff supervision, scheduling, client service, inventory management, and administrative tasks to ensure a smooth, professional, and high-quality guest experience.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Oversees front desk operations. Supervises staff, students, and LMTs. May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Job Duties/Essential Functions:
Fosters a professional, welcoming, and service-oriented spa environment that reflects organizational standards. Coordinates student practicum experiences, including orientation, scheduling, progress monitoring, performance evaluations, feedback delivery, and final grading. Provides coverage and operational support for front desk functions, including phone management, client communication, appointment scheduling, payment processing, treatment preparation, and laundry duties. Oversees front desk performance to ensure adherence to procedures, service quality standards, and operational expectations. Monitors retail and spa inventory, communicates supply needs to leadership, and supports accurate ordering and replenishment processes. Reviews and manages daily cash handling processes, including register operations, shift reports, and till preparation. Responds to student, staff, and operational issues or emergencies, appropriately escalates concerns, and supports timely resolution. Demonstrates spa treatments and provides instructional support to students requiring additional guidance or skill development. Teaches assigned courses such as, in accordance with instructional standards. Utilizes spa management software to manage scheduling, reporting, student records, financial tracking, and operational data. Coordinates and supervises chair and sports massage events, including client communication, staffing coordination, scheduling, and on-site student supervision. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and support a diverse student population; prior teaching or instructional experience preferred. Strong ability to work under pressure while managing multiple priorities, timelines, and operational objectives. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English with the ability to engage professionally with students, staff, and clients. Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor.
Education & Experience:
Active Utah Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) with a minimum of two years of professional, hands-on experience in spa or clinical settings. Prior supervisory, management, or leadership experience in a spa, clinic, or related environment is preferred. Ability to learn office software and systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, etc.).
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds independently.
