Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Activewear Seamstress / Sewing Machine Operator to join a small production and sample development team in Los Angeles. This role focuses on the construction of high-quality women's activewear and lifestyle garments, including both sample development and small production runs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience sewing activewear, specifically sports bras, leggings, and other fitted stretch garments. This is not an entry-level position and requires strong technical sewing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain consistent quality standards. Key Responsibilities Construct activewear garments including sports bras, leggings, and other stretch apparel Participate in sample development and small production runs of approximately 100-200 units per style Follow patterns, reference samples, and construction specifications accurately Work with stretch, lightweight, knit, and performance fabrics Apply elastics, bindings, waistbands, and specialty activewear finishing techniques Maintain high standards of stitching quality, seam consistency, and garment finishing Collaborate with team members in a sample room and production environment Assist with sample cutting as needed Required Qualifications Significant professional sewing experience in apparel manufacturing Strong experience constructing activewear and stretch garments Experience sewing sports bras, leggings, and fitted knit apparel Understanding of activewear construction techniques and finishing methods Ability to produce consistent, high-quality workmanship Strong attention to detail and quality control Ability to work independently while following established construction methods and processes Machine Experience Required Candidates must be proficient operating: Single Needle Overlock / Serger Flatlock Coverstitch Merrow Preferred Qualifications Experience with premium or high-end activewear brands Sample room experience Experience with lifestyle knit garments Previous work in small-batch or boutique production environments Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a highly skilled sewer with experience in both sample development and production sewing.
