In this role, you will be responsible for creating, repairing, and customizing high-quality marine canvas products that meet precise specifications and adhere to safety and quality standards. Your expertise will ensure that each piece is crafted with precision, durability, and attention to detail, contributing to the safety and comfort of our clients' vessels. Responsibilities Measure fabric materials accurately using measuring instruments to ensure proper fit and dimensions for each project. Cut fabric manually with precision, following detailed patterns and specifications. Sew marine canvas materials using industrial sewing machines, ensuring strong seam construction and durability. Operate sewing machines, serging equipment safely and efficiently to produce high-quality finished products. Handle materials carefully, managing fabric materials and upholstery components to prevent damage or waste. Construct marine canvas items such as bimini tops, dodgers, enclosures, cushions, and covers according to established quality standards in production. Maintain safety standards by following proper procedures during all stages of manufacturing, including handling tools and machinery. Conduct dimensional measurements throughout the production process to verify accuracy and consistency. Inspect finished products against quality standards in production before delivery or installation. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues related to materials handling or seam construction, ensuring continuous improvement. Experience Proven experience in garment sewing or upholstery work with a focus on marine canvas or similar materials. Skilled in using measuring instruments for precise fabric measurement and cutting. Familiarity with seam construction techniques specific to marine applications for strength and water resistance. Experience operating industrial sewing machines, serging equipment, and embroidery machines safely. Knowledge of fabric materials used in marine environments, including durability requirements for exposure to water and weather conditions. Understanding of safety standards in production environments related to machinery operation and material handling. Ability to interpret technical drawings or patterns accurately for fabric cutting and assembly. Prior experience working with upholstery or boat canvas projects is highly desirable but not mandatory.
