H2O Amphibious Inc. is developing the next generation of amphibious vehicles that combine advanced automotive and marine technology. Our vehicles are designed to operate on both land and water and incorporate high-performance automotive systems, marine propulsion, custom suspension and braking systems, advanced electrical systems, and emerging EV technology. We are looking for an experienced Senior High-Performance Automotive & Prototype Technician to become an important part of our development team. ( NOT

) This is not a traditional auto repair position . We are looking for someone who enjoys building, modifying, testing, diagnosing and solving problems on unique vehicles. The Opportunity The right person will have extensive hands-on automotive experience and be comfortable working on systems that may not have a factory service manual or an obvious solution. You will work directly on prototype and production-development vehicles and will have significant input into how our vehicles are engineered, assembled, tested and improved. Responsibilities Diagnose and solve complex mechanical and electrical problems Install, modify and troubleshoot engines, transmissions and drivetrains Design, modify and troubleshoot braking systems Set up and modify suspension systems, shocks, springs and alignment Work with steering, axles, CV joints, hubs and other chassis components Diagnose engine performance and fuel/ignition problems Install and troubleshoot automotive wiring, sensors, relays, switches and electrical systems Read and understand automotive wiring diagrams Diagnose ECU, sensor and communication problems Assist with development and testing of prototype vehicles Fabricate and modify brackets, mounts and mechanical components Perform road and water testing Identify problems during testing and develop practical solutions Work with engineers, fabricators and other technicians to improve vehicle systems Document modifications, testing results and recommended improvements Help establish repeatable procedures as the vehicle moves from prototype toward production Maintain a clean, organized and professional work environment Required Experience We are looking for someone with significant hands-on experience , preferably in high-performance automotive, motorsports, custom vehicle building, racing, off-road vehicles, performance shops, or prototype development. Strong candidates will have experience with: High-performance engines Engine swaps and modifications Brakes and brake system design Suspension setup and modification Steering and chassis systems Drivetrains and differentials Automotive electrical troubleshooting ECU and sensor diagnostics Custom vehicle wiring Vehicle fabrication and modification Mechanical troubleshooting and problem solving Highly Desired Experience The following would be a major plus: Race car or motorsports experience High-performance or turbocharged engines Custom suspension development Race-car brake systems TIG or MIG welding Fabrication CAN-bus systems Data acquisition ECU tuning EV or high-voltage automotive systems Marine mechanical or electrical systems Experience developing prototype vehicles Experience working with fiberglass or composite vehicles The Person We're Looking For The most important qualification is problem-solving ability . We need someone who can look at a problem and say: "Let's figure out why this is happening." You should be comfortable working independently, testing different solutions, modifying components and thinking outside the box. You don't need to have worked on an amphibious vehicle before. In fact, we expect very few people have. We are looking for someone who has the mechanical knowledge, curiosity and creativity to figure out things that haven't been done before.

If you are the type of technician who enjoys building rather than just repairing , this could be a very unique opportunity. Qualifications 7+ years of professional automotive experience preferred High-performance, motorsports, fabrication or prototype experience strongly preferred Strong mechanical diagnostic skills Strong automotive electrical knowledge Valid driver's license Ability to lift and move automotive components and work in a hands-on shop environment ASE certifications are a plus but not required . Demonstrated hands-on ability and problem-solving skills are more important. Compensation $35-$50/hour depending on experience and qualifications Exceptional candidates with significant motorsports, high-performance, prototype, electrical or fabrication experience may be considered at a higher rate.
