Job Description:
As a Sewing Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching sewing techniques to both children and adults, helping them develop their skills in garment construction and/or quilting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sewing, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience, and a minimum of 1 year of experience as a sewing instructor. You should be comfortable working with students of all ages and skill levels, creating a positive and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging sewing classes tailored to the skill level and interests of students. Teach a variety of sewing techniques, including but not limited to garment construction, pattern reading, fabric cutting, and quilting. Provide individualized instruction and support to students, helping them achieve their sewing goals. Develop class materials, such as lesson plans, handouts, and project instructions. Ensure a safe and organized classroom environment, including the proper use and maintenance of sewing equipment. Encourage creativity and confidence in students, fostering a love for sewing. Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback. Stay current with sewing trends and techniques to bring fresh ideas to the classroom.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of sewing experience. At least 1 year of experience teaching sewing, preferably to both children and adults. Strong knowledge of garment construction and/or quilting techniques. Ability to work with students of all ages and skill levels. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching. Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Experience in lesson planning and classroom management. Flexibility to teach classes during evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with a variety of sewing machines and tools. Knowledge of different fabric types and their uses. Prior experience working in a community center, sewing studio, or similar environ
