Unique Lady Bridal Boutique is seeking a talented and experienced Bridal, Prom & Formalwear Gown Fitter to join our team. This position requires a strong understanding of garment fit, alterations, and gown construction, along with the ability to provide an exceptional experience for our bridal, prom, and formalwear customers. The ideal candidate has an excellent eye for fit and proportion and can confidently assess, pin, and mark gowns for alterations while clearly communicating the necessary adjustments to our seamstress team. Key Responsibilities Conduct professional fittings for bridal gowns, prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride/groom gowns, and other formalwear . Take accurate measurements and evaluate how each garment fits the customer's body. Professionally pin and mark gowns for alterations. Identify necessary alterations, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, bodice adjustments, strap adjustments, bust and cup adjustments, and other fit corrections. Identify when structural alterations involving boning, corsets, lining, or gown construction may be necessary. Determine and properly pin bustle placement for bridal gowns. Work confidently with fitted, ball gown, A-line, mermaid, trumpet, corset, and other gown silhouettes. Understand how alterations affect the overall appearance, structure, and movement of a gown. Work with lace, beading, sequins, appliqués, tulle, chiffon, satin, crepe, organza, and other delicate or embellished fabrics. Clearly document measurements, markings, and alteration instructions for the seamstress. Communicate directly with the alterations team regarding complex or specialized alterations. Conduct follow-up and final fittings to confirm that alterations have been completed correctly. Demonstrate bridal bustles to brides and members of the bridal party. Help customers understand the alteration process, fitting schedule, and what to expect at each appointment. Maintain organized and accurate fitting records. Handle every gown with exceptional care. Experience Requirements Previous professional gown fitting, tailoring, alterations, or formalwear experience is required.

Candidates should have:

Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and alterations. Excellent measuring, pinning, and marking skills. Experience working with a variety of body types and gown silhouettes. Ability to identify both basic and complex alteration needs. Knowledge of bridal bustles and train construction. Experience handling delicate, structured, and heavily embellished gowns. Excellent attention to detail and a strong eye for proportion. Strong communication and customer-service skills. Ability to clearly communicate alteration instructions to seamstresses. Confidence working directly with brides, prom customers, formalwear customers, and their families. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who combines technical fitting expertise with outstanding customer service . The right candidate should be able to look at a gown on a customer, recognize where the fit needs improvement, accurately pin and mark the necessary alterations, and communicate those changes to our alterations team. Whether preparing a bride for her wedding day, a student for prom, or a customer for another special occasion, our Gown Fitter plays an important role in making sure every customer leaves feeling confident and beautiful. This is not an entry-level position. Professional fitting, tailoring, or alterations experience is required.
