Tailor/Seamstress to operate industrial sewing machines
Overview:

  • Full Time (Plymouth, Minnesota) Monday-Friday Day Shift Streicher's proudly serves America's Public Safety by combining a large selection of uniforms, equipment and solutions in the industry with top-notch customer service.
With two retail locations in the upper Midwest, Streicher's is a retailer specializing in Public Safety uniforms. Thousands of Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, Emergency Medical, Federal, Military, Corrections, Security, and other essential workers each year trust Streicher's as their service provider. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform uniform alterations on public safety uniforms for Police, Fire, EMS, and Private Security professionals. Operate industrial flat stitch, post bed, serger, and blind-stitch machines. Complete job orders on a daily basis where quality work and solid productivity are essential. Standard examples include hemming pants with use of a serger and a blind-stitch machine to complete the task and sewing on shoulder patches/emblems to uniform shirts on standard commercial straight-stitch machines.

Qualifications:
  • Must be excellent at making modifications to uniforms, hemming, repairs, and sewing items onto clothing
  • Must have good verbal communication skills to converse with customers when measuring/fitting, etc.
  • Must possess previous experience working on commercial or industrial sewing machines
Job Responsibilities:
  • Sewing on patches, emblems, insignia, and rank patches for all Public Safety personnel including Police, Fire, EMS and Private Security
  • Operating industrial/commercial sewing machines
  • Removing and re-applying pocket flaps & shoulder straps on shirts
  • Tapering shirts/pants
  • Hemming uniform pants
  • Adding striping to uniform pants
  • Custom uniform alterations
  • adding/replacing zippers, shortening sleeves/shirt tales, taking in/letting out waistbands
  • Pinning shirts for tapering
  • Comfortable with customer interaction for uniform fittings/alterations
  • Hiring bonus paid after 120 days of employment
