Responsibilities Perform clothing alterations and repairs with precision, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and adjusting fit for both men's and women's wear. Use sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, and pressing machines to execute detailed garment construction and modifications. Operate pressing machines safely to press garments for a polished finish, ensuring fabric materials are handled correctly. Consult with customers to understand their tailoring needs and provide expert advice on fabric materials, garment fit, and alteration options. Maintain high standards of stitching quality, garment construction, and attention to detail throughout every project. Manage multiple alteration projects efficiently while adhering to deadlines and quality standards. Keep workspace organized, clean, and stocked with necessary sewing tools and supplies. Requirements Proven experience in clothing alterations, garment sewing, or tailoring within a fashion retail environment. Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, and garment construction principles. Proficiency with sewing machines, pressing machines, hand sewing tools, and press operation. Ability to perform precise alterations for both men's wear tailoring and women's wear tailoring. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly about garment adjustments and fabric considerations. Basic math skills for measuring fabrics, taking accurate measurements, and calculating seam allowances. Familiarity with fabric care instructions and proper handling of various textile types.
