Fit | Charleston Tri-County | $350-$900/week
Re:
Fit is a growing Charleston alterations company. We're expanding our seamstress / tailor network and adding capacity — this is additional work, not a replacement hire. What makes this different No commute. No storefront. No customers. We handle all client communication, fittings, and scheduling. Garments arrive ready to sew. We fit the customer, pin the garment, and attach written instructions. We drop the pinned garments at your studio and pick them up once completed. You don't measure, you don't consult, you don't chase anyone down — you sew. You choose what you accept. Every garment is offered, not assigned. If a piece is outside what you want to take on, you pass. The work Alter women's and men's garments, denim, dresses, and formalwear including bridesmaid dresses. We do not take bridal gowns.
Typical volume:
10-20 garments per week Standard turnaround: 3-5 days Occasional rush turnarounds at the same piece rates, always optional — when one comes up we reshuffle your existing queue rather than stacking it on top Pay Per-garment piece rates, $26-$40+ depending on complexity. Formalwear and bridesmaid pieces run $100+. Contractors working consistent volume typically earn $350-$900/week. Requirements 3+ years of professional alterations experience — hems, taking in/letting out, zippers, linings Your own sewing machine and serger Dedicated workspace in Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County Able to read and confirm written alteration instructions in English Able to complete a W-9 and provide a valid taxpayer ID (SSN, ITIN, or EIN) How we start A paid skills test on 2-3 garments before any customer work is assigned. You're paid for it either way. Independent contractor position (1099).
